We bought it to hook my son's X-box 360 up to our cable router, rather than spend $100 on the wireless device. It works fine and found that I don't need to spend $40 on a cable in a store. I will never buy cables in a store again. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Bad, bad, bad cable... Stay away By L. Turk I would have thought that the cable would have been tested before shipping, so I consequently did not test it myself... I feel completely devastated because it took a lot of time and work to run it behind and through heavy furniture, etc. The cost of the cable is a drop in the bucket compared to the loss I'll have to take to run a different cable and do the whole thing over again, for I cannot charge the client for a redo because of a bad cable. I'm hoping that the cable is just badly crimped, for I can fix that and recrimp it without having to start all over again. It even looks like it might have been hand-crimped to begin with. The cable is exactly as it looks- not moulded nor snagless. I would recommend to anyone to stay away from this and do it yourself, or spend a little more money for a better cable... Cheap has turned out to be expensive in this case. This might be one bad one out of a thousand, but that doesn't matter to me because this one defective one has cost me a bundle. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent buy! By Xiomara Cabrera I am so glad I made the decision to buy this cable; I had wireless before and I was losing connection most of the time. After I bought this cable I have not been disconnected once! I ordered 8 of them, all get the job done. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Quality product, excellent transmission rates By Rob Wehrli When I purchased these, I *thought* that I was buying Cat 6, but mistakenly ordered Cat 5 instead. Ross There isn't much that can go wrong with this kind of item, but I'm still pleased with the quality of the cable and connectors. The cable has been used in a challenging physical and electromagnetic environment for a few years now without a hitch. It was a good value at the time I bought it too. Great color -- I get tired of beige, black, and gray all the time. See all 1 customer reviews...

The kit includes one Powerline XAV101 AV Ethernet Adapter, which you plug into your router, and one Powerline XAV1004 AV Adapter with 4-Port Ethernet Switch, which you plug into an outlet in any room where you want a network connection. Once you plug the adapters in, within minutes you'll have a high-speed network throughout your home. The XAV1004 AV Adapter includes four Ethernet ports, letting you connect up to four devices -- such as laptops, network attached storage devices, DVRs, media streamers, Blu-Ray DVD players, or game consoles -- to your network via a single electrical outlet. Port-Based Quality of Service (QOS) Prioritizes your Bandwidth Usage Because the unit features port-based Quality of Service (QoS), you can decide which devices receive bandwidth priority, ensuring that the performance of your highest priority device is not impeded by any spikes in your bandwidth demand. This means that if you've prioritized your Xbox 360TM or other game console and you're in the middle of an online game, you won't be interrupted or delayed by another user on your network trying to download a video or access the Internet. The system will automatically regulate bandwidth use, prioritizing the Xbox network traffic over other traffic on the same network. By simply pushing a button, without using a PC or Mac, the kit also gives you the option of securing your network connection with 128-bit AES data encryption for privacy and security. Supports Speeds up to 200 Mbps The Home Theater Internet Connection Kit supports speeds up to 200 Mbps, enough for streaming high-definition video and MP3s, transferring large files, making Internet calls, and more. As long as your electrical outlets in your home are electrically connected, the XAVB1004 will typically provide home-network coverage up to 5,000 square feet. And to help you get the fastest speed out of your connections, NETGEAR Pick-a-Plug technology provides red, yellow and green status LEDs that indicate the signal strength and speed through your house so you can find the best outlets to use. Perfect for Xbox, Playstation, TiVo, ReadyNAS and More Perfect for creating a connectivity hub by your home theater, by placing the XAV1004 near your television, you can easily connect your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 to your network, giving you the high-speed connection you need. The adapter can also connect other media devices, such as your TiVo, AppleTVTM, SlingboxTM, DVR, BD Live-enabled Blu-Ray player, Ethernet-enabled TV, and more. By connecting a network attached storage device, such as the ReadyNASTM Duo, to the adapter, you can give anyone in your home direct access to the media and other files stored on the device. And, by simply adding additional expansion units, like the Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter Kit (XAV101) or Powerline AV Adapter with Ethernet Switch (XAV1004) , you can continue to expand your Powerline network as your needs grow No drilling. No mess. No wires. Creating a high-speed and secure home network couldn't be any easier. The XAV1004 Adapter with Ethernet Switch measures 5.40 x 4.01 x 1.10 inches, and the XAV101 AV Ethernet Adapter measures 3.86 x 2.83 x 1.57 inches. The kit is supported by a NETGEAR 1-year warranty. What's in the Box One Powerline AV Adapter with Ethernet Switch (XAV1004); one Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter (XAV101); one 1.82 m (6 ft.) Much better than wireless G By YukonJack I have only had this for a few days, but hookup is a breeze (took about 5 minutes from openning the box to fishing wires under my furniture behind the TV), and it is much faster than wireless G. I am streaming Netflix through my TivoHD without undue buffering, and at the claimed Netflix full HD quality. The utility software included with the product allows the user to turn off the three LEDs on the four port switch, implement security on the devices, and create network priorities if there are multiple adapters on the network. The utility software scans the powerline network and details the speed at which the network is operating. My speeds vary between 72 mpbs to 88 mbps in my 3,100 sqft house that is about 7 years old. My network router is upstairs and my home theater is downstairs. Longevity of the device is yet to be determined since I have only had it a few days, but so far I am very pleased with the product. ***UPDATE*** I had a lamp that operated by touch to turn it on and off. It kept turning on by itself after installing the netgear powerline adapter. Well, after unplugging the lamp from the wall, I am getting about 160 mbps transfer speeds on my network to my home theater. Its fast, stable, and streams video like crazy. 36 of 38 people found the following review helpful. Better that Wireless, not as good as wired, or as stated By Dan I purchased the Netgear XAVB1004 Powerline Home Networking Kit so I could connect my Tivo, my new Home Theater PC and other devices downstairs to my router which was upstairs. Some background: I have a 2 story 1700 sq ft townhouse. There is no networking cable run through the house, and unfortunately, its easy or cost effective to rip everything apart to run wires. I currently have a 10/100 MBs Linksys WRT54G wireless router. Since I wanted to transfer large files back and forth to my HTPC and Tivo, I felt 802.11n wasn't the best option. (Plus, I'd have to buy new adapters). Debating between Powerline and MoCa (Ethernet of Coax), I felt Powerline would give me the most flexibility, and being advertised at 200 Mbps, which is about 25 MB/s. Being that my router is 100 mpbs, (12.5 MB/s), I thought even matching the speed would be great. I am currently transferring lots of files around, anywhere from 100 MB to 2 GB at a time, so speed is important Setup review: This device was ultra easy to set up. Literally, plug it in, and off you go. I couldn't have asked for a simpler setup. I am not using any encryption at the risk of slowing the system down. I'm not in a place where I have to worry about someone tapping into my powerline. Speed review: While transferring from upstairs to downstairs, I got a best speed of 4.7 MB/s, roughly 37.6 mbps. I will admit, this is more than double the speed of my wireless router, it is certainly not even close to advertised wired speeds. I realize that almost nowhere will a person see 200 mbps, but I think even 50 mpbs over a relatively short distance should be expected. Overall: While this is not nearly as fast as I would like, it is much faster than my wireless. I'm keeping it based on the price, flexibility and easy of use. I can only hope that that Netgear will release a firmware update for this. My recommendation is that if you have other options, and speed is an issue, then look that way. But if its casual downloading, web access, or just connectivity, this may work for you. 25 of 27 people found the following review helpful. Home theater enthusiasts, a product like this is a must By K. Dubose If your household is like mine several of my home theater components can connect to the internet with wires. The problem is that my modem and router are in a different room and running cable to the entertainment center could be a problem in your house. Luckily for me I can run my own CAT 6 cable anywhere I need, but to be honest it's a HUGE pain.

It works and it has snagless boots, so it should stand up to a fair bit of abuse. See all 1 customer reviews...

Just What I Wanted By Wishgabishgus This 100 foot, black ethernet cable is exactly what I wanted, and more than what I was expecting. My previous cable became wrinkled and twisted after only a few uses, but this cable has kept a strong shape and lets my xbox play online so well, its hard to believe I'm sending that data over the cable. Very much worth the money and, for me, a perfect alternative to wifi gaming. See all 15 customer reviews...

I have squeeze these clips through some narrow spaces with no problems the anti-snag clips work like a charm it did not hook up on anything. Good item good prices and a great deal. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. gets the job done By Heather Sainz ordered the 10ft cables even though I needed only 3 feet because the price was better on the longer ones, overstock maybe? anyway, they work just as you think they would. the only small thing you may want to know is they seem a tiny bit thinner then other patch cables but like i said they work perfectly. I ordered 8 of them, all get the job done. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Quality product, excellent transmission rates By Rob Wehrli When I purchased these, I *thought* that I was buying Cat 6, but mistakenly ordered Cat 5 instead. Most helpful customer reviews 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Great Cat6 Cable for the price. By James C Young Great cables from this company. Nice locking ends and very nicely made Cat6 cables. Cost a fraction of what the "Big Box' stores want for similar cables. Also much better quality. I had a real hard time finding Cat6 locally at regular store and when I did they where super expensive and felt more like a Cat3 cable. Also a 50 foot cable was about a dollar a foot. Tried electronics stores and electical warehouses and still not the quality and low price of the cables from this Amazon affiliate. The cheapest I could find a much lesser quality 100 foot cable was around 75.00. I could have purchased 5 cables from this seller for that much. No loss of speed to my HTPC or desktop PC's and just plain high quality cables. I am still amazed at the quality of these cables for the low price. They used a thick outer covering with nice booted ends. Also they lock into place on my router and motherboards and they stay put. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for hard wiring your network. Hardwiring is the best way to go if you can do it this way. I have always had problems with wireless, so I hardwired everything. It also hellps that I am a retired electrician. My Server really likes these cable a whole lot better than the old blue Cat5e cable that I got from a local hardware store. Stopped acting up and much and much smoother streaming of music and movies. Will buy more if needed. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Great Cat6 cable By S. J. I received this cable in two working day's, so far no problems, I bought this 100' patch cable because I was on wireless with Fios and still had speed problems, once I installed this cable everything works amazing. I will never go wireless unless I have to. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Good price for length By C.N. This cable costs just a fraction of identical cables in retail stores, because brick and mortars mark up cables a HUGE percentage, sometimes over 500%. I got it in just 2 days, and it works perfectly, no complaints at all, would definitely order again. See all 13 customer reviews...
