Sling Media SlingLink Ethernet Connection Bridge
SlingLink Ethernet Connection Bridge. Network your Slingbox to your router without installing new wires. Use the wiring in your walls to transmit Internet signals throughout your homes numerous wall plugin sockets - direct to your SlingBox! Simply plug-in and you are connected.
Brand: Sling Media Model: SLINGLINK Least expensive way to connect your SlingBox to your router without wires. Optomized for use with the SlingBox. Simple one-step installation High speed, supporting up to 14Mbps connection
From the Manufacturer A SlingLink is a convenient way to connect your Slingbox to the Internet. If you’re like most people, you don’t have an ethernet jack right next to your television. Rather than running long wires all around your house, or having an expensive technician re-wire your home, you can just purchase a pair of SlingLink adapters. Like an extension cord for the Internet, the SlingLink uses your home’s existing electrical wiring to transmit the ethernet signal from your router. Plug one SlingLink into the wall near your router, and plug in the other SlingLink wherever you have your Slingbox installed. Voila--your Slingbox is connected to the Internet! Best of all, the SlingLink does not impact the performance of your network. It simply placeshifts your home’s Internet connection from your office to another household room via your electrical wiring. Now wherever you have a wall socket, you can have the same broadband connection - without installing any new wires or outlets. SlingLink Features Least expensive way to connect your Slingbox to your router without wires Optimized for use with the Slingbox Simple one-step installation High speed, supporting up to 14Mbps connection

Has minor limitations, but serves its purpose well By sonytoao The SlingLink is an ethernet bridge which will allow you to connect ethernet-capable devices via your home electrical wiring. It uses the HomePlug Powerline 1.0 standard, which is well-established. (You can Google the term homeplug to learn more.) Note that this standard only provides a data throughput of 14Mbps even if your home LAN is 100Mbps-capable. But this is not necessarily a bad thing if you have multiple users sharing your home network - in addition to having the ability to cap the bandwidth utilization via the SlingPlayer software, the SlingLink itself will also be throttled so as not to hog your entire home internet access pipe.As another reviewer has noted, you must also connect both SlingLink boxes to outlets on the same circuit. SlingMedia technical support confirms that this latter requirement is one of the more misunderstood issues involving the device. So, check your home wiring first (i.e. which outlets are connected to which circuit breakers) before buying to ensure that you can place the SlingLink where you want it. (But this is good practice for homeowners anyway). With those limitations in mind, most users will encounter no problems with the device. Setup is easy and with the above cautions in mind, it works as advertised. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. works, but not always needed By Schomer This product works well. Just plug it in, and go. But if you have a large house like I do, your transfer speeds might not be suitable. Not an issue with the product as much as my house. To get around this, I went another direction. I bought a wifi game adapter. It's targeted to getting your XBox or Playstation on your network, but works just the same for the Slingbox, and it's half the price - under $50. You plug your slingbox into the game adapter, and the adapter connects wirelessly to your existing wifi network. I think the one I picked up was from Linksys. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful. As easy to install as the SlingBox By Network dude The Slinglink arrived with the two boxes that plug into the electrical outlets, two cables, and little documentation. Having jumped through multiple hoops and pulled out a lot of hair in the process of setting up my wireless network, I was more than a little doubtful that it would work. However, it was up and running as quickly (2 minutes!) & easily as my slingbox. I had no problems at all getting a connection. I'm getting a second unit to help cover longer distances for my other devices rather than extending my wireless coverage. See all 38 customer reviews...

By Dixie Blue Eyes I purchased this item after recently purchasing the Alfa, also offered by this seller on Amazon. (USB 500mW WiFI Adapter for Wardriving & Range Extension *Strongest on the Market* $51.99)I liked the Alfa but this one had a bigger antenna and was cheaper and looked almost identical to my Alfa so I decided to give it a try. I'm not loving it. The setup was much more difficult and I couldn't get it working on my desktop running XP at all. The Alfa plugged right in and runs like a dream on it. Also, I actually get worse reception with the big antenna than I do with the small one.All and all, I would recommend the Alfa over this one for ease of installation (installed on XP with no additional work and installed on Vista with driver from website pretty easily). Also the Alfa seems to more consistently maintain the signal and I got more bars with it then I am getting with this GSky.Spend the extra few dollars and go with the Alfa. (By the way, I am a SAH mom, not a computer geek, so keep that in mind when I talk of ease of install and setup.) 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. doesnt work By Kracranium I get more connections through the wifi device that comes with my computer.and the small antennae picks up better signals than the bigger one. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. For the price, very slick! By Jason W. Chenard Hard to complain about this for $30. Install was smooth, and it pulls in signal like I've never seen. Marginal systems at motels are now 100% reliable. And when you're out and about, there's usually (ahem) some router nearby that'll get you a quick email check. I'm ordering a second one shortly! See all 17 customer reviews...

Caldwell With my new Samsung Blueray, not only can I pop in a Blueray disk but my model has Netflix, Pandora, You Tube, and Blockbuster download and play capability via wireless connection. Problem was my router is upstairs on one end of the house and the Blueray is downstairs on the other end of the house, some 60+ feet distance; and not even a linksys WRT610N would send enough signal to get better than a 10% success rate on the download. Most of the time, it just chugged and chugged and then timed out. Solution: Monster Powernet 200 which sends the signal through your electrical wiring. It takes 2 units of equipment to get started - thus it's called a starter kit. You just plug one into a wall outlet at your PC and connect an ethernet cable from the Powernet to the router. Plug the other Powernet unit into a wall outlet at your Blueray and connect an ethernet cable from it to your Blueray player. Then go into setting on your Blueray and change the connection type from wireless to cable. Now the movies download in about 10 seconds. Another plus is now that the first 2 units are installed, I can add additional units in another room of the house where I have an ethernet ready TV. My only word of caution is that the Powernet unit plugs into both sockets of a typical wall outlet, then compensates by having an outlet on both sides of the unit; but not all plugs may fit into it because of angled plug shapes. 14 of 15 people found the following review helpful. high-speed networking that is somewhat wireless at wired speeds By O. CHAVEZ I loved my network-able Blue-ray player I purchased, but I hated the wireless adapter which left me always praying my Netflix or U-tube content would actually play. Same with my networkable TV, I'd always lose the radio or the news. My PS3 online gaming was a joke wirelessly. I dreaded running a network cable from my livingroom into my bedroom. Such a downer for such great products. However, I found this little device and AMAZINGLY everything works flawlessly! It's literally plug and play. High-speed networking that's virtually wireless!!! You need one on your router end to plug "wire" a Cat5/ethernet cable into and one for wherever you want to have a "wired" connection for your equipment. You use a Cat5/ethernet cable to "wire" your components into the Monster PowerNet which is plugged into the wall. No cables between rooms, only between your router to PowerNet which plugs into the outlet and one from your components to the PowerNet 200 or 300.You may have to reset your components from wireless to wired, but after that, it just works! NO more jagged netflix, waiting for info to load, missed songs or slow online gaming. It actually downloads the best quality off netflix. I'm really happy with this. I'm used to wiring and setting up computers, home theatre, and complicated set-ups. I was really amazed at how easy it was.Good luck and buy it! It really is worth it if you use networkable products, or even if you have a wireless deadspot in your home. I'm glad I found this because it's much cheaper than running network cables through my home which was going to run me ($3,000-$4,500).BTW the difference between the PowerNet 300 and PowerNet 200 is the PowerNet 300 allows for more than one component (4 ethernet ports) in a room. The PowerNet 200 has only one ethernet connection. The PowerNet 200 & 300 also gives you some surge protection & line conditioning (clean power filtering) which erases some of the "buzz/noise" or interference in your walls to give a faster connection. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A very solid router but certainly not for amateur By A power home user As a home user, after upgrading my broadband to 6.0mb/s from Comcast, both my netgear and linksys routers were overwhelmed and couldn't cope up with all the activities for the 5 computers, Xbox360 and Slingbox in the house. After researching all the business class routers, including Netgear, Linksys, Sonicwall and others. Finally, I've decided that Cisco is the best product that would solve my problem. Knowing that this is a sophiscated product, I ordered the most basic router without wireless access (hence less variables to configure). Amazon has the best price among all the websites though you certainly don't get any type of technical support from them. As expected, the router requires some professional knowledge to configure. Being a home user, I only changed very few settings through the SDM software that came with the router and it worked very well within my network. The performance of the router is impressive and I am getting the same download speed if I connect my PC directly to the modem. With all the loaded activities in the house, the CPU usage was just around 40%. This router certainly is of professional quality and doesn't even warm up after leaving it on all the time.On the flip side, I found that the user interface (SDM) to manage the router is a little over complicated. It could be much more simplier but is still acceptable. The command line interface through the console port is definitely for professional who knows exactly what they are doing. Through the command interface, you can get almost all status and configuration from the router. I dare not to modify any configuration using the console interface because I'm not sure what I'll be changing. In addition, this router is 4 times more expensive than the ones you can get from local retail stores. Overall, I would recommend this router if you need the quality and performance. Otherwise, stay with the consumer products from Linksys or Netgear. 24 of 24 people found the following review helpful. The most reliable part of my network By Albert K. Lee I am a software engineer who sometimes thinks he's a network engineer too. I run one commercial and one private system from home, with DNS, web, and e-mail service for each, and have a commercial broadband connection through Verizon Online DSL with 5 static IP addresses. After spending days reading specs and reviews of various pro-consumer routers, SOHO routers, and enterprise routers, and after having experienced downright horrible router software and performance from home/consumer routers, I decided on going with a Big Name and it's been a WONDERFUL investment.I am comfortable working on all kinds of UNIX systems, so I am very comfortable with setting things up using a command line through telnet and ssh or by transferring files with scp. This router uses standard Cisco IOS software and there was a real wealth of documentation available on the web, and I was able to get up and running without purchasing any additional books. Once everything was set up, it never needed to be touched, and the router has been chugging along with no hiccups and at full speed. What I had was: - a pool of 5 static WAN IP addresses from my ISP - an internal 192.168.x.x network - web/email/dns/ntp/etc. servers on the internal network - ethernet connections for everything (I have a separate DSL modem)I wanted a router that: - was straightforward for a competent network engineer to configure - could implement NAT the way I wanted to - was totally silent (no fans!) - would not flake on me - had a firewallI got more than I wanted. This router also: - stores its identity/configuration in a single file, which I can archive - supports SNTP (only), so it gets its time from my local NTP servers - does a lot more than I need/useAll in all, I am writing from the point of view of an advanced user, and

This 50ft CAT5e cable works fine in my home theater setup (Viera Cast streaming). It's flexible enough to wind around various corners of living room. Seems well made. Price was right, shipped quickly with Amazon Prime. It's not Cat6 but who cares. Most people aren't even using the full 100baseT throughput let alone Gigabit. Cat5e should support Gigabit Ethernet anyway. For my purposes this works, I am happy. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. It's cheap and it works. Well, some cables are noticeably cheap and nasty and some are obviously designed for use with super computers. This one falls into the middle ground that fits almost every home user. In a nutshell, if you have a computer in a different room to your modem or router then this cable does the job nicely. The toughest thing is the DIY job you have to do to get it under floors and/or through walls. The snagless protectors do what they are supposed to do so if you need to move the cable then the release catch cannot "grab" hold of other cables. Particularly one of the million strands of spaghetti that hang down behind our computer desks. We've all been there trying to unhook the cable we are trying to pull out from under the desk which usually ends up with us banging our heads on the keyboard tray. So, nice price for 50' of cable that works perfectly and it easy to use if you're moving it at all. Job done, .. oh, except for drilling those holes and crawling through the crawl space. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Very good price By Conrad D. Ross There isn't much that can go wrong with this kind of item, but I'm still pleased with the quality of the cable and connectors. The cable has been used in a challenging physical and electromagnetic environment for a few years now without a hitch. It was a good value at the time I bought it too. Great color -- I get tired of beige, black, and gray all the time. See all 1 customer reviews...

By Noni I bought this cable and two other colors of the same brand 8 months ago, and they've been working great. They come in different colors for color coding your connections, which is nice. I've been getting my cables from Cables To Go since the mid-90's and they've always been very high quality at a great price. Highly recommended! 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great product, great price.... By JEagle This 50' cable was a great price and worked well for my purpose of connecting from hub to blu-ray player (running it through the attic). The snagless protectors work well, particularly when fishing through holes. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Nice little cable By E. Aspilcueta I used between my modem and router. Most helpful customer reviews 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Purchase! By VickiLynn This cable was an excellent buy and we got it really quickly (two days I think). We bought it to hook my son's X-box 360 up to our cable router, rather than spend $100 on the wireless device. It works fine and found that I don't need to spend $40 on a cable in a store. I will never buy cables in a store again. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Bad, bad, bad cable... Stay away By L. Turk I would have thought that the cable would have been tested before shipping, so I consequently did not test it myself...I feel completely devastated because it took a lot of time and work to run it behind and through heavy furniture, etc. The cost of the cable is a drop in the bucket compared to the loss I'll have to take to run a different cable and do the whole thing over again, for I cannot charge the client for a redo because of a bad cable.I'm hoping that the cable is just badly crimped, for I can fix that and recrimp it without having to start all over again. It even looks like it might have been hand-crimped to begin with. The cable is exactly as it looks- not moulded nor snagless.I would recommend to anyone to stay away from this and do it yourself, or spend a little more money for a better cable... Cheap has turned out to be expensive in this case. This might be one bad one out of a thousand, but that doesn't matter to me because this one defective one has cost me a bundle. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent buy! By Xiomara Cabrera I am so glad I made the decision to buy this cable; I had wireless before and I was losing connection most of the time. After I bought this cable I have not been disconnected once! See all 3 customer reviews...

I can now enjoy ALL the benefits my Sony Blu-Ray has to offer ! 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good cable at a good price By Gary L. Lindgren I originally ordered the cable directly from Cables to Go, but it was more expensive and they didn't have what I wanted. To my surprise, they had it through amazon for less money. Not sure why it was easier to buy through Amazon but it was. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Most helpful customer reviews 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Problem solved By Chas Law How much can one say about a cable? Shull Price was very good with speedy delivery. Would cost about 10 times as much at a RS store 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Lindgren I originally ordered the cable directly from Cables to Go, but it was more expensive and they didn't have what I wanted. To my surprise, they had it through amazon for less money. Not sure why it was easier to buy through Amazon but it was. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Ross There isn't much that can go wrong with this kind of item, but I'm still pleased with the quality of the cable and connectors. The cable has been used in a challenging physical and electromagnetic environment for a few years now without a hitch. It was a good value at the time I bought it too. By Justin Walker $3 for a 25 foot cable, pretty hard to argue with a deal like that. It works and it has snagless boots, so it should stand up to a fair bit of abuse. See all 2 customer reviews...

I have squeeze these clips through some narrow spaces with no problems the anti-snag clips work like a charm it did not hook up on anything. Good item good prices and a great deal. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Cables By Jellicoe These are great little cables. And they truly do no snag. So if you like a rats nest less path to whatever your going to network to, these are the ones to go with. Plus they are black, and the kats have yet to chew a hole into them despite the concerted effort. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Excellent cables By Visor Boy I ordered four of these and all of them work great. They have just the right amount of stiffness to neatly lay upon the edge of the floor. The connectors are secure yet simple to squeeze to disengage. See all 8 customer reviews...

There are three different versions with this model number By DS The original version of this router was version 1000, based on the same platform as Belkin's F5D8230-4 Pre-N and the Linksys WRT54GX routers using Airgo's v1 technology and a Broadcom engine. It got an excellent review from Tom's Networking guide. Then Belkin put a whole new circuit bard inside the same case and called it Version 2000. It used Airgo's v2 technology and a Realtek engine, and got roundly criticized on the equipment forums for being an inferior product. The latest version is 3000, which isn't even based on Airgo technology any more. Now Belkin is using Ralink technology, and it's essentially the same router as the Airlink AR-525W, SparkLAN WRTR-300 or Compusa's store brand MIMO router, any of which can be found in stores for about 25 bucks. The version 3000 technology bears no resemblance to the Airgo version that got such a good review at Tom's. In fact, the router with the Ralink chipset (the Airlink) came in dead last and was the only one to receive a rating of "not recommended" in Tom's roundup.Of course there's no way to tell in advance which version you'll get, but it's a pretty good bet you'll get the latest one. The only way to tell is to look at the sticker on the bottom of the box. This practice of changing the internal electronics without changing the model number is a really annoying practice. It's hard enough to do all your research and decide which model to buy, so then to end up with something entirely different from what you thought you were getting is just maddening. Your best bet is to just stay away from this one. 20 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Completely without Value By Beanhauer This router drops my connection every few minutes. I've spent hours on the phone with Belkin and replaced the whole thing. A quick internet search finds dozens of people reporting the same problem, with no solution offered. It's just no good. 10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Great Router By Arshad M. Raja great router, much better than dlink, better than netgear and linksys. i used to have belkin 54g wireless router, but due to setup restriction i wasnt getting full signal with it in my room upstairs on the 2nd floor. upgraded from 54g to mimo and now i am getting almost 100% signal strength on the top floor. make sure you match it up with a mimo lan card to get the max strangth. i used this router with a 802.11b lan card and still got about 90% signal strength on the top floor. the setup is very easy and straight forward. much hassle free than netgear. it took me hours (literelly) to setup the netgear 108 router for her and still it was acting, where as it took me about 10 minutes to set up this belkin mimo. good job and product belkin. oh yeah dont forget, belkin has lifetime support and warranty. might come in handy in the long run. netgear and linksys has only 3 years i believe.
