Wood, I bought this D-Link modem / wireless router to replace a SpeedStream 5360 modem and a Linksys wireless router. It works much better than the other system I was using. This system is very stable - no more random disconnects from the Internet or constant problems with the wireless system that I have experienced before. D-Link wireless router has a much stronger signal than the Linksys it replaced. My D-Link system is in a building next to my house (about 20 meters away) and I can receive signals throughout your home on a laptop with no problem - the Linksys was only available in one room. The decor was simple and I like the combination modem / router - the desktop is not overcrowded. D-Link has created a good product, which for my application. 57 out of 60 people found the following review helpful. Big Bang for Buck, but ... By John Smith a good choice, but value for money, that's how I would describe this gateway modem There are some very nice features of this device, but they come with some pretty big drawbacks. In my usual way, I get right to the poor, then end on a good note. My first question is heat. This modem is hot enough, sometimes almost to burn, and I'm not exaggerating. Secondly, then the Web interface, which just sucks. It's the same layout I saw in a DSL modem, I have nearly ten years ago, and it was so bad then. Third is usability. The manual and electronic only useless, apart from setting up the modem physical connections. It's a good thing this is a modem / gateway, which means you have Internet access. Google is your friend with this modem and unfortuanately your sole guide of value. One more thing, not a real question but .. Lose the fake metal and as a child painted silver trim, the modem looks like a happy flock fine food! OK all of you in the middle. Now comes the easy part, what I like * the modem. Features, has a lot of them, and some QoS of some worth considering the price. It has been very good features that I'm happy to have at my disposal. I love it when a router that does not require shots * nexessarily options, but tastefully. Some of the standard features seems lost in the shuffle lately, so here are some characteristics of the note looking for quick consumption: - QoS (decent, of course) - Port Triggering - PVC - Multiple VPN gateway (not just a VPN tunnel STILL NOT) - Self-DMZ (follow the rules, but not in search of a matching rule, the router sends traffic to the host requested or DMZ) - Annex M (24/3.5Mb when the service arrives, this modem is ready) - the time of day restrictions - Telnet configuration. Installation is a breeze if you have a rudimentary knowledge of computers (although some of AT & T have complained about poor auto-config) and I was able to get this unit running in about 5min Simply too much the GUI is so badly done wrong .. All in all, I would definitely recommend this modem / gateway based on it's feature set and price, but as you can tell, there are problems as well. If you are not tech savvy, I'd be sure of good sense by looking for information online before making the leap, as you will need to look at a few things up. If you are * Savvy Tech, and how your features, I should have said the features outweigh the negative issues, and go for it. Price per performance: 4.5 / 5 Usability and Design: 2.5 / 5 Overall: 3.5 / 5 19 of 20 people found this review useful. Replacement well for DSL modem and wireless router by WD Kenitzer As another user, I also bought this to replace a SpeedStream DSL modem and a Linksys wireless router. Overall, I'm happy with its performance, but had some headaches with the initial setup SETUP: Be prepared to immediately call your ISP for assistance. D-Link provides a "Wizard" to help you set it up for the first time. However, the DSL.
